I look forward to this special event as it gives me the chance to meet so many of you and express my gratitude in person. Serving as your Sheriff for almost three years has been a privilege, and that has allowed me to forge relationships with many wonderful Burke County citizens.
2025 Fall Barbecue Fundraiser at The Higher Education Center
2128 South Sterling Street, Morganton, NC | Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. We will be serving BBQ Pork Plates or Chicken Strip Plates | Dine-in or take-out for $12 per plate
Each plate includes - Baked Beans, Coleslaw, Bread, Drinks, and Delicious Desserts!
• At approximately 6 p.m., I will provide an update on the Sheriff’s Office
• Live music by Bout’ Time and Free Face Painting for the Children!

I pledge to support the Constitutions of the United States and North Carolina, and enforce North Carolina Laws and Burke County Ordinances.
On December 6, 2021, I officially filed to run for the Office of Burke County Sheriff. I began my law enforcement career at the Burke County Sheriff’s Office on August 13, 1989. I have had the honor of serving the citizens of Burke County for 32 years in many capacities, including Patrol Deputy, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Detective, and Major (Chief Deputy). I have been blessed to serve as Chief Deputy under two different Sheriffs for a total of 15 years.

Strong Relationships
Continue to build strong relationships between the Sheriff’s Office and the communities that we serve and protect.
Currently serving on numerous boards and committees to strengthen and continue open communication between the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Burke County.

Better Pay, Benefits and Technology
Advocate for increased pay for our Sheriff’s Office staff in order to increase employee recruitment and retention.
Work closely with other county leaders in an effort to provide our deputies and detention officers with the most current equipment and technology to aid in the performance of their duties.

Protect Our Community
Continue to provide the citizens of Burke County with effective, professional, and trusted law enforcement.
Work closely with the District Attorney’s Office to prosecute drug traffickers and dealers, while using programs like LEAD (Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion) to help low level drug offenders and users get off of drugs.
